Aspire Solar installed a 13.76 kW solar system for this Wesley Chapel homeowner using 32 QCells Q.TRON AC 430W modules across multiple roof planes. The design began by fully utilizing the large south-facing roof, which provides the strongest year-round irradiance. Once that section was maximized, additional panels were placed on adjacent planes with solid production potential. The home has no shading from neighboring houses, allowing the entire array to operate efficiently throughout the day.

To support the homeowner’s newly purchased electric vehicle, the project also included a Level 2 charger installed inside the garage. It was positioned centrally between the three parking bays so the EV can charge from any spot and so future vehicle placement isn’t restricted.

A Franklin aPower 2 battery was added for backup capability. The battery was mounted outside rather than in the garage because the home’s main service panel is located deep inside the garage, far from the meter. Locating the battery outdoors reduced conduit runs and avoided unnecessary complexity, and the chosen exterior wall has enough shade to protect the unit from direct heat. The homeowner plans to use the battery primarily for short-duration outage protection rather than long-term whole-home backup.

System Performance

This system was intentionally sized to 127% of the home’s previous 12-month consumption to account for the significant new load from the EV. The homeowner plans to charge the vehicle during daylight hours to take advantage of surplus solar production and reduce both utility usage and battery cycling.

Key outcomes include:

  • Full offset of household consumption plus additional production for EV charging
  • Flexible EV charging location with garage-centered Level 2 station
  • Reliable backup power during utility outages

Strong year-round performance from unshaded south- and east-facing roof planes
This project demonstrates a practical, forward-looking solar + EV solution for homeowners preparing for higher electric demand while wanting clean integration and dependable backup capability.
