When the Company That Installed Your Solar Is Gone

Roughly 100 U.S. solar companies have filed for bankruptcy since 2023. Some were small local installers. Others were national names. SunPower filed in 2024, and Freedom Forever, the second-largest home solar installer in the country in 2025, filed in April 2026.

Florida ranks third in the nation for installed solar, so a lot of Florida homeowners are now sitting with systems nobody will answer the phone about. Panels on the roof, a loan still being paid, and no one to call.

When an installer closes, you usually lose:

  • The people who designed and wired your system
  • The workmanship warranty they promised you
  • The company that was supposed to diagnose problems and file warranty claims
  • A local number to call when your monitoring app shows an error

The good news: your equipment warranties come from the manufacturer, and they often still stand. What’s missing is someone to do the installer’s part of the job. Read what homeowners should know when an installer goes out of business.

We File One Manufacturer Warranty Claim a Year for You

Many manufacturers expect an installer to diagnose the problem and file the claim. Once a year, we do that for you: the diagnostics, the paperwork, and the follow-up. We’re certified with Enphase, Tesla, SolarEdge, REC, and FranklinWH.

The manufacturer makes the final call on approval. If the claim is approved, you’re free to have the work done by anyone. If you choose us, labor is billed at the member rate, 15% off.

An Inspection at Your Home Every Year

A monitoring review before we arrive, a ground-level electrical walkthrough, and a roof check of wiring and panels. You get a 1-page report with a pass or flag for each section and member repair prices if anything needs work.

Why Solar Warranty Claims Get Stuck Without an Installer

Most manufacturer warranties cover the part, not the labor to diagnose, remove, and replace it. Many manufacturers also expect an installer to diagnose the problem and file the claim. So when your installer is gone, the part may be free, but getting it onto your roof usually isn’t.

That’s the gap our flagship benefit fills. We do the installer’s part: we diagnose the problem, document it, file the claim, and follow up until the manufacturer answers. And because we’re certified with the major brands, we know how their claim processes work.

Is Aspire Solar Service Worth It for Your Home?

It depends on your system, and we’ll tell you straight. The cost is $399 for the first year ($99 enrollment plus 12 months at $25), then $300 a year after that. Membership has a 3-month minimum, then continues month-to-month.

Re-roofing comes up a lot in Florida. A shingle roof here typically lasts 15 to 20 years, while panels last 20 to 30, so many homeowners will need their panels taken off at least once.

Any residential solar system can join, no matter who installed it. (We don’t service RV or portable panels.) A membership may not be the right fit if your installer is still in business and answering the phone.

Leasing or under contract? If your system is leased, on a power purchase agreement, or covered by another service contract, we’ll verify that we’re allowed to work on it before you enroll. When the original installer is out of business, that’s usually not a problem, but every contract is different. If a membership isn’t right for you, we’ll say so.

Re-roofing: Panel removal and reinstallation on an asphalt shingle roof runs about $200 per panel. For an average 32-panel system, that’s about $6,400. At the member rate, you’d save about $960, more than twice the first-year cost of the membership.

Inverter replacement: Once an inverter is out of warranty, replacing it with materials typically runs $4,000 to $6,000. On a $5,000 replacement, the member rate saves you about $750.

We verify your system with you over the phone, with the help of a few photos, and tell you whether it’s worth enrolling. No charge and no pressure.

Enroll if it’s a fit.

We send you a secure enrollment link. You pay the one-time $99 enrollment fee when you sign up. Your $25 monthly payment is then charged on the 1st of each month, starting the 1st after you join. Membership has a 3-month minimum.

Get your first inspection.

Your first inspection happens within 30 days of signing up, and from then on you’re at the front of the line.

Your manufacturer warranties usually stay in place, because they come from the company that made the equipment. The workmanship warranty from your installer usually goes away with the company. The harder part is the claim itself, since many manufacturers expect an installer to diagnose and file. Members get one claim filed for them each year.

Once a year is a good habit. FEMA recommends checking the bolts that hold a rooftop array in place every year, before forecast storms, and after severe wind. Inverters are also the part most likely to fail.

Check your monitoring app and compare this month to the same month last year. Panels normally lose only about half a percent of output a year, so a sudden or large drop usually points to a problem, often the inverter.

There’s no annual contract. Membership has a 3-month minimum, then continues month-to-month. After your first 3 months, you can cancel by emailing us at info@aspiresolarenergy.com at least 2 weeks before your next billing date (the 1st of the month). The $99 enrollment fee is non-refundable.
